[General] I have moved!

I made the switch to WordPress yesterday. Now that I have my own site and a good hosting plan, I felt that I ought to move my blog to my own site. In that process, I decided to give WordPress a try.

I have been playing around with WordPress for the past two days and I am satisfied so far.

So all of you... please update your bookmarks. Henceforth all my new blog posts will appear over here.

[General] On vacation

I am travelling to North India starting tomorrow morning. Will be back only by the end of the week. So will not be blogging for the entire week.

In the meantime, have a look at the some of the photos that I have posted online on my would be homepage.

'What homepage' you say?
To which I say the homepage that is hosted on the domain I purchased last month.

'What!!?? You purchased a domain and you are telling now?'.
I didn't? Hmmm.. pretty lazy of me. The point is that I didn't get the time to put up anything on the website. So what was there to tell.
Even now, there is only this photo album that I have put up.

'Ok. I accept your apology, but I didn't find any photo album on your homepage. All I get is some lame placeholder page for your site.'
That is because the album can be accessed only if you know the URL ;-)

[Mozilla] Nvu 1.0 released

Today Nvu reached 1.0. Nvu is a web authoring system that was started from the Mozilla Composer code base. Nvu is a standalone application similar to the next generation applications from Mozilla such as the Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird.
Kudos to Daniel Glazman from Disruptive Innovations who is the lead developer and maintainter of Nvu. Earlier Daniel was the chief architect for the Mozilla Composer.

[General] Stylesheets Part 2

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of the pending tasks on my blog design update is to add support of switching stylesheets via javascript. Today I found the time to do just that.

Along with that I have added a cookie so that the user selected style will persist.

[General] CSS Templates...

In my attempts to beautify my blog, I have finally included support for multiple alternate stylesheets.

All the three stylesheets were originally written by Douglas Bowman from www.stopdesign.com. All I have done is to slightly tweak the designs based on personal preference.

Now one of the major tasks that remain is to allow easier switching of the stylesheets via javascript. If you are already using a browser such as Mozilla Firefox, then you can access the alternate stylesheets via the View -> Page Style menu option.

As far as allowing for persistence of user selected stylesheet is concerned, I am still debating whether to include that option or not. I personally am not in the favor of using cookies on my blog. But I may give in and include a cookie for the same.

For those of you who are not so fortunate to be using a browser that allows the user to select the stylesheet, here are the screenshots of the same.
